Bayer 04 Leverkusen
Bayer 04 Leverkusen
A very well-known club within Europe is Bayer 04 Leverkusen. Their performance in the 2002 Champions League final was impressive, despite losing to Real Madrid. Although they have never won the championship title in Germany, they are known as the “ewiger Zweiter” (eternal runner-up). Nevertheless, they won the DFB-Pokal in 1993, which is a great achievement!
However, Bayer 04 Leverkusen are not only playing big on the pitch, but are also very involved and integrated into wider society. Their social branch, “Wir (04) Helfen”, does a great job of youth work and even organises a “Walking Football” competition in which the seniors can participate. Particularly impressive is their “Wir (04) Helfen-Tag”, event where employees from different departments work together to redesign a garden of a public institution.
It is also wonderful to hear that Bayer 04 Leverkusen is participating in various social projects, such as the Erasmus+ research project “Football Works” and the collaboration with the Wuppertal Youth Prison for the “Inside” programme. Such efforts show that the club plays an important role not only on the pitch, but also off the pitch and is committed to society.
In short, Bayer 04 Leverkusen is not only a successful club in football, but also a real role model when it comes to social commitment and responsibility. Hats off to their great work!
